Local singers can audition for RENT – The Musical: Concert Version Performance, which will be held in May in recognition of National Mental Health Awareness Month. The performances will be held at Englewood Health in partnership with the Performing Arts School at bergenPAC.

Set in the East Village of New York City, RENT is about falling in love, finding your voice and living for today. Winner of the Tony Award for Best Musical and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, RENT has become a pop cultural phenomenon with songs that rock and a story that resonates with audiences of all ages.

Director Alexander Diaz, and Musical Director, Glenn Gordon are looking for a diverse cast of 12-15 people ages 16 and up. All roles are unpaid. Auditions will be held Friday, March 1 from 4-7 p.m. and Saturday, March 2 from 12:30-3:45 p.m. at The Performing Arts School, 1 Depot Square, Englewood. At the audition, people should bring a headshot and resume and be prepared to sing a song in the style of the show, along with two songs for characters they wish to be considered for. A piano accompanist will be provided.

Rehearsals will begin after casting is announced and everyone must be available for all the performances. Rehearsals will be held at Englewood Health on Wednesday, May 15 and Thursday, May 16 from 4 to 8 p.m., with additional rehearsals at the Performing Arts School. 

The performances will be Friday, May 17 and Saturday, May 18 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, May 19 at 2 p.m.
