Vision

bergenPAC recognizes that the arts can play a vital role in helping young people develop important life skills, including creating a greater appreciation for learning, motivating them to be successful in their studies and ultimate life pursuits, discovering their personal voice and avenues for creative expression, and identifying ways to make a positive contribution to society.

bergenPAC's Performing Arts School aims to be the primary arts education institution for families of all economic, cultural and geographic backgrounds living across the northern New Jersey region. The school seeks to attract the area's most talented young performing artists with professional quality instruction in music, dance and theater, while also providing a welcome atmosphere for children to have fun as they are introduced to the arts.

Ultimately, the Performing Arts School is here to serve students of all ages and abilities, whether they have professional ambitions or simply want to dance with their friends.

Programs

Early Childhood

This comprehensive early childhood program serves our youngest student population. Children 3 months to 5 years of age can enjoy their very first music, dance and theater classes. These classes will be the beginning of their journey at The Performing Arts School, and lay the foundation to create lifelong learners of the arts. MORE INFO

Dance

Our Dance Program at The Performing Arts School at bergenPAC is an electrifying dance program under the direction of Roberta Mathes. With our NYC professional faculty and our facilities, our dance program has had resounding success in reaching children and members of the community, offering them the opportunity to receive excellent dance training in a positive setting whether they become performing artists or simply dance for fun!

We offer a wide variety of classes for all ages and abilities (children through adults): Classical Ballet, Contemporary, Modern Jazz, Horton, Afro Modern, Tap, Hip-Hop, and Acrobatics.

For more serious-minded students we have a Pre-Professional program which offers college guidance for dancers and have more performance opportunities. MORE INFO

Theater

bergenPAC’s regional theater school offers weekly classes for all ages in the dramatic arts and musical theater as well as college and audition preparation for aspiring actors continuing their education. bergenPAC also presents theatrical productions throughout the year on an audition basis. MORE INFO

Music

The music program is rooted in the history of the facility, which formerly housed Grammy® Award-winning Bennett Studios. Students are encouraged to take private music lessons while also taking group classes and jam sessions to develop into well-rounded musicians. Students can record their pieces in a professional recording studio setting. The curriculum is tailored to the individual instrument and educational needs of each student, and focuses on building technical skills as a foundation for performance.  Music students (group classes and private lessons) have the opportunity to participate in the end-of-year performance on the bergenPAC mainstage.
