Eric Cohen & Jake Blass
For more than 15 years, Eric Cohen and Jake Blass have been musical compatriots, sharing a deep love for the Grateful Dead, classic country, bluegrass, and the rich traditions of American roots music.
Eric Cohen is widely known throughout the tri-state region for his exceptional guitar work with Grateful Dead tribute band Touch of Grey and The Brothers Revival, an all-star group celebrating the music of the Allman Brothers Band. He has also established himself as a sought-after pedal steel guitarist, performing with country and roots acts including Nick Dunbar and Sad Cowboy.
Jake Blass is a founding member, lead vocalist, and rhythm guitarist of Philadelphia-area bluegrass and acoustic group Friends of the Devil. The band explores the music of the Grateful Dead, Old & In the Way, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Dead-adjacent artists, and classic bluegrass. Friends of the Devil regularly bring Eric into the fold on pedal steel, including performances at the annual In and Out of the Garden Festival at Snipes Farm in Morrisville, PA.
Together, Cohen and Blass bring a fresh, intimate approach to the music of the Grateful Dead. Their performances blend Jake’s soulful vocals and rhythmic foundation with Eric’s intricate guitar work, pedal steel, and deep musical vocabulary. Vocal harmonies, improvisation, and an authentic roots sensibility give their performances a distinctive sound while honoring the spirit, culture, and musical legacy that have made the Grateful Dead such an enduring American treasure.
