The Wizards of Winter

with original members of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra

Wizards of Winter present their holiday rock opera, Tales Beneath a Northern Star. The group features former members of The Trans- Siberian Orchestra (TSO) and rock industry veterans from Rainbow, Alice Cooper, Ted Nugent Band and others. The Wizards of Winter will perform new music from their upcoming album, along with some of their original classics.

Band leader Scott Kelly originally formed Wizards of Winter in 2009 to perform at a benefit holiday concert for his hometown food pantry. With the help of his wife Sharon Kelly, a singer and flutist, and bassist Steve Ratchen, Kelly, a keyboardist, created a Trans-Siberian Orchestra tribute project for the show. They convened a team of stellar musicians from seasoned professionals to well-respected locals. When people started asking to buy their album, Kelly knew the group was on to something and created their own holiday rock opera. Four years later, Sharon Kelly became friends with Tommy Farese, an original member of TSO, and the Wizards of Winter picked up some former members of the group.

The lineup is now fortified with vocalist Vinny Jiovino, guitarists Fred Gorhau (formerly of heavy-metal outfit Explorer) and TW Durfy, drummer Tommy Ference, bassist Greg Smith (Ted Nugent, Alice Cooper, Rainbow), pianist/vocalist Mary McIntyre, violinist Jen Hamilton, as well as former TSO members Guy LeMonnier (vocals), and Tony Gaynor (narration).
